RULES AND SUBMISSION OF SHORT FILMS

 

EDITION 2022

 

1. All the works submitted must have been released after the 1st January 2021.
2. Authors from any country can participate, as long as they are of legal age and their works (short films and fake trailers) are in Spanish, Valencian or subtitled in one of both languages. Each author may submit as many works as he/she wishes.
3. The works can be fiction, animation, documentary or experimental, as long as their themes are framed in the fantastic context and have not been presented in previous editions of this festival.
4. Short films can’t exceed 20 minutes in length, including credits, while fake trailers can’t exceed 2 minutes in length.
5. The deadline for entries will be from Friday 2nd September to Monday 3rd October 2022, included.
6. The registration of works will only be done through the FilmFreeway platform by paying the minimum fee, which won’t be refunded in case the work is not selected.
7. For this year’s edition, Elche International Fantastic Film Festival – FANTAELX establishes the following distinctions:

 

Best Fake Trailer: gift + permanent publication of the fake trailer on the festival website.
Best International Short Film: gift + direct access to Sax International Film Festival (Alicante, Spain).
Best National Short Film: gift + direct access to Horror and Fantastic Short Film Festival 1000 Gritos (Buenos Aires, Argentina).
Best Short Film from Alicante: gift + direct access to the festival Navidades Sangrientas – Weekend Horror Awards (Alicante, Spain). To be eligible for this category, the authors must prove that they were born in the province of Alicante, or have been residents in the province during the filming of the work submitted.
Best “Social and Fantastic” Short Film: gift + direct access to Sant Joan d’Alacant Film Festival (Alicante, Spain). All the short films in competition in the three categories (Alicante, national and international) will be considered for this distinction.

 

8. The participation in the festival implies the acceptance of these rules and regulations and the transfer of the exhibition rights of the short films to be screened both in the festival itself and in the collaborating festivals where the winning films will be screened out of competition.
9. The jury of the current edition of the festival will select, from among all the works presented, those that will make up the festival’s programme. The jury’s decision will be final.
10. Elche International Fantastic Film Festival – FANTAELX reserves the right to exhibit the selected works in the cinemas and public sessions it deems appropriate within the framework of the festival, the screenings of which will be free of charge. The production and distribution companies will cede the rights for the exhibition at no cost to the festival.
11. Participants will authorise the broadcasting of up to one minute of images of their works in any of the festival’s media. The festival declines all legal responsibility for the work and its content on the author.
12. In the case of not being able to carry out the screening due to adverse causes, the selection of the short films will also count for the purposes of the present edition, granting the aforementioned distinctions to the short films awarded by the jury.
13. The authors whose works have been selected will be notified before Monday 31st October 2022.
